The New York Times reports three explosive devices were sent to former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and CNN’s New York offices.

Explosive devices were sent to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as to CNN’s offices in New York, sparking an intense investigation on Wednesday into whether a bomber is going after targets that have often been the subject of right-wing ire.

A law enforcement official said the three devices were similar to one found Monday at the home of George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist and liberal donor.

None of the devices harmed anyone. Law enforcement officials said they were investigating whether all the devices were sent by the same person or persons.

Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Obama, Mr. Soros and CNN have all figured prominently in conservative political attacks — many of which have been led by President Trump. He has often referred to major news organizations as “the enemy of the people,” and has had a particular animus for CNN.

National Review’s Jonah Goldberg shared his thoughts succinctly on Twitter:

It’s evil and wrong, period. I’ve criticized President Trump’s rhetoric as overheated, but, frankly, we don’t know who has done this or what their motivations are.

I also don’t recall the media focusing on the rhetoric of Democratic leaders after Republican members of Congress were targeted by a deranged shooter. I think we can all agree there are unhinged people on all sides and President Trump is no more responsible for this than Democrats were for the shooting.

Also, people calling this a “false flag” are insane.

Let’s jettison the hot takes and let law enforcement do their thing. Once we know who is behind sending the bombs and why they were sent then we can have that discussion.

We need more civility on all sides. No one deserves having a bomb sent to them. Praise God no one was harmed.
