SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Republican congressional candidate Jeremy Taylor returned to the campaign trail on Monday in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District race after a three-week deployment of active duty in Romania.  Taylor serves as a chaplain in the Iowa Army National Guard and holds the rank of captain.

Taylor’s campaign was paused for the duration of his deployment, as military rules prohibit any interaction between an active duty member of the military and a political campaign.

“I look forward to returning to the campaign trail, and we have a full schedule for the coming weeks.  We’re continuing right where we left off: Talking to conservative activists, building a grassroots organization, earning the endorsements of party leaders and elected officials, and raising campaign funds,” Taylor said.

“I joined the military after inviting a group of World War II veterans to speak to my high school English class.  My goal as a teacher was to inspire my students.  Those speakers from the Greatest Generation inspired me as well, and I signed up to serve.  Later, it was in the Army that I was called to serve my fellow soldiers as their Chaplain.  My time in the Iowa Army National Guard has been one of the most formative experiences of my life, and I continue to be inspired by the men and women who wear the uniform and make sacrifices every day to secure our freedoms. Seeing our NATO allies firsthand and the religious, economic, and personal freedom they have enjoyed since 1989 reaffirmed for me that we must champion liberty over the haunting specter of socialism and fight for our historic rights and values,” he added.
