Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her endorsement of David Young in the race for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District.

“David Young is a dedicated public servant who will always work on behalf of his constituents,” Gov. Kim Reynolds said. “He’s shown a remarkable ability to work across the aisle, put forward practical solutions, and stand up for Iowa’s best interests in Washington. David set a precedent every member of Congress should follow – visiting every county in the district every month in office. Because of his dedication and commitment to the job, Iowans can always trust David to put his best foot forward on their behalf.”

“I am honored to receive Gov. Reynolds’s endorsement,” Young said. “During my time in Congress, we worked together to ensure policy coming out of Washington D.C. benefited Iowans, and I look forward to working with her again.”

Young announced his candidacy in May and faces a contested primary in 2020 against Army veteran Bill Schafer.

David Young was elected to serve Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and reelected in 2016. Prior to his service in Congress, Young served Iowans as U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2013. A graduate of Johnston High School and Drake University, Young is a sixth-generation Iowan and resides in Van Meter.
