DES MOINES, Iowa – The American Action Network announced on Monday that they would spend $150,000 on television and digital ad buys for an ad that targets U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne, D-Iowa, on the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

The ad, titled “Didn’t,” cites a Caffeinated Thoughts report of a meet and greet Axne held in Mount Ayr, Iowa last month. During that event when she was pressed about impeachment she said, “I didn’t run for this seat to impeach the president.”

Axne did, however, vote in favor of the impeachment inquiry.

This ad campaign is in addition to a $50,000 digital ad buy in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District that the group announced in November and is part of their $7 million television and digital ad campaign against President Trump’s impeachment.

“Congresswoman Cindy Axne says she didn’t run for Congress to impeach President Trump, yet that’s the only thing she’s actually found time to do in Washington,” American Action Network President Dan Conston said. “It’s past time for Axne to reject this partisan game, get back to work, and let the voters decide elections for themselves.”

American Action Network also targeted Axne, as well as, U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer, D-Iowa, with a TV ad campaign in October focused on opposing Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s prescription drug plan.
