WALL LAKE, Iowa – The re-election campaign of U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said he will debate his four challengers in the Republican primary in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.

“Congressman King is looking forward to debating his Republican Primary opponents on stage for the benefit of Iowa’s 4th district Republican voters,” Jeff King, campaign chairman, said. “We believe debates are to our advantage because they will clearly show Congressman King possess a depth of knowledge and experience on the issues that Iowans care about that is unmatched in the current primary field.”

The campaign said that the debates need to happen when voters are paying attention to the race so they don’t anticipate holding a debate until six weeks before the primary on June 2, 2020.

Jeff King said U.S. Rep. Steve King will concentrating on his work throughout the 4th District and in Washington, D.C. prior to that.

U.S. Rep. King debated former State Senator Rick Bertrand, R-Sioux City, in the district’s Republican primary in 2016. The last general election debate he participated in was against Democratic challenger Jim Mowrer in 2014.
