DES MOINES, Iowa – State Senator Randy Feenstra, R-Hull, officially filed his nomination petitions to run for the Republican nomination and challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Steve King of Kiron in the Iowa 4th Congressional District’s Republican primary.
“Iowans deserve an effective conservative voice in Congress. Steve King has left us without representation in Congress and has passed one piece of legislation in 18 years in Congress – to rename a post office. It’s time we send a proven, effective conservative to represent us in Congress and I’m excited to have my legislative colleagues by my side as I officially file for the June Republican primary.” Feenstra said.
Feenstra’s campaign filed nearly 4,000 signatures from across the district, more than twice the amount (1,874) required.
Randy Feenstra has a conservative record in the Iowa Senate. He crafted and sponsored the largest income tax cut in Iowa history. His campaign has earned the endorsement of former Governor Terry Branstad and conservative leader Bob Vander Plaats. He has the backing of several colleagues in the Iowa Senate who reside in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District including State Senators Annette Sweeney, R-Alden, Tim Kraayenbrink, R-Fort Dodge, and Waylon Brown, R-Osage. In the Iowa House State Reps. Dan Huseman, R-Aurelia, and Megan Jones, R-Spencer, endorsed his campaign.
At the end of 2019, Feenstra held a 15-to-1 cash on hand advantage over incumbent Congressman Steve King, outraising him in every quarter since the start of the primary campaign.
