VAN METER, Iowa – David Young, Republican candidate for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, announced Monday he has raised over $400,000 in the first quarter of 2020, and goes into the second financial quarter with over $1 Million cash-on-hand.

“Though the nature of campaigning has changed in the past several weeks, there is still an election to win and we will have the financial resources to do just that,” said Young. “I want to thank each and every one of my donors who contributed to our fight to win back the Third Congressional District and return leadership to Congress.”

The race for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District seat is considered one of the top races in the country and rated as a toss-up by Cook Political Report. A recent Des Moines Register generic ballot poll had the Republican candidate up one point in a very close race.

David Young was elected to serve Iowa 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and reelected in 2016. Prior to his service in Congress, Young served Iowans as U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2013. A graduate of Johnston High School and Drake University, Young is a seventh generation Iowan and resides in Van Meter.
