RED OAK, Iowa – On Thursday, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, a survivor of sexual assault and domestic abuse, released a new ad focused on the challenges she faced, as well as how she has championed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to provide resources for those who need it most.

Transcript:

The Violence Against Women Act is very personal to me.

I faced some significant challenges in my life – domestic violence in my marriage.

It’s so important that we’re getting resources to those who need it the most.

You can go through challenges in your lifetime and you don’t have to let those challenges define who you are as a person.

You can overcome and the next day is going to be a better day.
