DES MOINES, Iowa – Last Friday, David Young, the Republican nominee in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District race, released his second ad targeting U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne’s health care plan.

The ad links Axne’s plan with Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“On health care, Cindy Axne and Nancy Pelosi are united to expand government-run care. Axne and Pelosi’s plan raises taxes and cuts Medicare benefits for seniors. The Axne-Pelosi plan can even cause over half of Iowa’s rural hospitals to close, just when we need them most,” the ad claims.

The ad then transitions to Young.

“I’m David Young. I will always fight for medicare benefits for seniors and protect Iowans with pre-existing conditions. I approve the message because now more than ever, Iowans are concerned about their health care,” he says.

Watch:

Both ads that Young’s campaign released focus on health care. His first ad, released on August 13, was positive and highlighted his support for covering Iowans with pre-existing conditions. The ads follow Axne’s opening salvo on the air, claiming that Young voted to end the protection of pre-existing benefits while in Congress, something Young’s campaign vehemently denies.

Young was elected to serve Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and reelected in 2016. He served on the influential Committee of Appropriations. Before his service in Congress, Young served Iowans as U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2013. A graduate of Johnston High School and Drake University, Young is a seventh-generation Iowan and resides in Van Meter.
