DES MOINES, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, released another TV ad entitled “Aunt Joni” on Friday in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race.

This new spot tells the story of a native Iowan and veteran named Owen who was severely wounded during one of his eight tours of duty. Owen notes that Ernst visited Walter Reed Medical Center so much during his recovery, they called her Aunt Joni and he even credits her with helping him walk again.

Transcript:

Owen: They put me in the dead pile. I’d been shot 6 times with a bullet in my skull.

Rehab was tough, but Joni Ernst was always at Walter Reed to help. So much, we called her Aunt Joni.

These attacks on her… total lies.

Aunt Joni helped me walk again. She’s the real deal.
