Drew I don’t blog on this type of thing often, but I wanted to let you know that I’m walking in the Autism Speaks Walk on Saturday, June 19. I’m walking with “Drew’s Jumpers,” named after my nephew, Drew (pictured on the left) who has PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) which is on the Autism spectrum.

Autism impacts 1 in 110 children, and 1 in 70 boys. I’ve seen my sister and brother-in-law go through many trials raising a child with Autism. There are problems finding resources, getting the needed therapy, and most of all the fact that insurance companies rarely pay for any of the needed testing or therapy. Government statistics are showing that autism prevalence rates are growing 10-17% annually, and no one is absolutely sure why.

Would you please consider making a donation to Autism Speaks so that children and families, like Drew’s, can find the answers and the help that they need?  Better yet, if you live in the Des Moines area and would like to join “Drew’s Jumpers” we’d love to have you.

Thank you for any support that you can give, it is much appreciated.
