Former Speaker Of The House Newt Gingrich gave a speech at Congressman Steve King’s Conservative Principles PAC in Des Moines, IA.

He wasted no time in attacking “Obamacare”, maintaining that it was “critical” that it gets stopped this year. He asserted that the Federal bureaucracy was ill equipped to administrate the nation’s health care.

He said that there were three important subjects to address: Values, the economy, and national security. He briefly discussed American exceptionalism, and emphasized the importance of the words “truths” and “creator” in the Declaration of Independence. Shifting to the economy, he said we need to create wealth here rather than redistribute it. “America works when Americans are working”, he said. He observed that President Obama’s idea was to borrow money from China and buy oil from Brazil, exactly the opposite of what we need to do.

He said we need to repeal what he called “Obamanomics” by “repealing Obama”. He said we’ve got to stop spending and reduce taxes, citing the tax cuts that were made during his tenure as Speaker.

Gingrich spent some time explaining his views on Libya, admitting that his remarks had seemed contradictory. But he said that those remarks were responses to Obama’s position which was changing day to day.

He said that once we commit to military action it should be done “quickly” and “decisively”.  He also said that we should be honest about the fact that it was radical Islam that was “trying to kill us”. He referred to the United Nations as a “corrupt organization” and was critical of the Obama Administration for consulting with them (the U.N.) and the Arab League with respect to the military action in Libya but failing to consult with the United States Congress.

Gingrich suggested a number of important actions that could be accomplished through simply using a presidential executive order. Among those were the abolition of Czars, the elimination of abortion funding by the government anywhere in the world, and ensuring that no one would be forced to participate in any way with abortion against his or her conscience.

He ended his speech by saying “We can turn (things) around with remarkable speed if we have courage”.
