Generation Y/Millennials (referred to as Generation We in this video) will be in positions of leadership and influence soon. I am inspired by their enthusiasm, but at the same time cautious because they lack wisdom and experience. How are we going to work with them? How are we going to cultivate the leadership skills needed to successfully lead? Generation We came out with this well-produced video that is very intriguing.

There’s nothing new under the sun … thus … unless the Generation “We” is reached by the Gospel for Christ … it’s just the same under the sun all over again …
Good video. And I applaud the sentiments regarding turning things around in the future.
The “Boomer” generation was probably viewed with some skepticism and consternation when we began to assume positions of power and influence. I think it is natural for any generation to worry and wonder whether the next generation has the wisdom and will gain the experience necessary. Generation “We” will one day face the same issue.
What is more important to me is that we impart on the upcoming generation a knowledge and love for the Lord. I think to Judges 2:10 and the cycle of cursing and misfortune that occurs when a nation turns from the Lord.
Generation We should start moving into positions of running the world, it is going to be their home long after Boomers depart for other pastures(and I pray more and more come to Jesus and wind up in the green pastures of the Lord).
There are problems in the world no doubt. Every generation inherits them from the previous. But it is when we turn to ourselves and not to God that the problems grow worse and things reach a breaking point.
Turning to God in trust and faith is something that Generation We cannot afford to ignore any more than the Boomers could. The issues we deal with today indicate we have not been doing a good job as a generation lately.
@Daniel – absolutely right. Without Jesus they will be another generation gone astray. They will just have different problems.
This video obviously paints them in a good light. They have negatives too.
@AndyC – Spot on. I just wonder how well that is being done.
The dude with the mohawk has a shirt that seems to say cosby in what looks to be some kind of Hebrew font…from left to right “tsade” an upside down “kaph” “lamed” “samek” and either a backward “bet” or a sideways “hey”. ;^)
I wrote a couple articles on Gen Y in the workplace, and all the managers who fret about how “different” they are, but it really just comes down to paying attention to their motivations and tapping their strengths/skillsets and understanding that the way the process and want to receive information is slightly different.
Once you do that, you get good results.
But, I guess that’s why we talk about generation “gaps.”

i’m currently reading a book called, “Generation Me” by Jean Twenge. What’s interesting to me is many of the comments of those in the “GenWe” video come directly from the premise of the “GenMe” book I’m reading…i.e. “the belief that we are unlike any generation that has come before us.”–they’ve been taught that they’re unique and they believe it, are they truly? “we’ve been handed this, and this is who we are” –boomers are teaching these students this, few of them learn it or understand or truly are this way themselves…

lol–i see “cosby” spelled w/ hebrew characters…not sure what the hebrew term would be–if it existed…?
