Interesting video.  It makes a powerful argument as to why government welfare programs don’t generally work.  What is most compelling is it is an argument made by the people who are in the trenches working with the poor.

If the government wants to do anything whoever ends up in the White House should continue with the Community and Faith-based Initiatives so if taxpayer money must be spent on this issue (and it is an important issue) then at least it is going to organizations and ministries who will be effective.

Watch the video and let me know what you think.

  1. Any successful program, any successful missional activity, requires the understanding of those in the trenches facing the issues on a day to day basis.

Government is effective is amassing the resources required through its ability to tax; but often falls way short on spending what is has amassed. Mainly due to its inability to fully understand the issues from the trenches as opposed to the statehouse.

I think a community or faith based initiative is likely to succeed because it is run by people who care about people not about a program.
