My kids got me pretty good today.  My oldest daughter had her tonsils out on Monday.  The kids yelled downstairs… “Mom needs your help, Kelvey is bleeding all over the place!” (Bleeding is still possible a couple days after surgery).  I bound up the stairs and into her room where she and my wife were trying to stifle their laughter.

I deserve it.  I used to play April Fools jokes all of the time, though I don’t think I have the past couple of years (at least not good enough to remember).  I used to catch my mom all the time with the “I failed a test today” gag.  I now wonder what she thought of my academic ability since she fell for it every time.  Another time I wore a sling to school with an elaborate story.

April Fools Day has special meaning for me now, but it doesn’t have anything to do with pulling practical jokes.  Though I’m sure at first some thought I was joking.  April 1, 1992 was the day I placed my faith and trust in Jesus, believing that His death and resurrection was the only way I could experience forgiveness for my sin.  I entered into a love relationship with Him as my Savior and Lord and received Him by faith, (John 1:12).

Repentance and belief… and at that I point I became a fool for Christ, (1 Corinthians 4:10).

Life hasn’t been the same since, and for that I am truly thankful!
