I was going to make a comparison list of the things I don’t have versus the things I have, as a reminder of God’s great provision and blessing, but there is nothing to place on the “don’t have side”. In the shadow of the cross, I have everything I need.

There is always something to be thankful for and always Someone to thank. Perhaps a rough economy causes eyes to see what they don’t have, but I believe that many times it helps us adjust our focus on what we do have, what is most important.

Two and a half years ago, we were forced to sell our business, the home we rented was lost in foreclosure, my husband couldn’t get work, then severely broke his leg and we became dependent on friends and family for shelter and provision. I know what it means to lose it all….business, home, and a car; yet I have every reason to be overwhelmingly thankful to God because He has sustained us, blessed us and has provided for us for these passed thirty months.

We still live with family,  but we have income, we have two very used, but serviceable cars that get us from point “A” to “B” and we have a roof, though not our own, over our heads. We have been able to continue home schooling and God has provided college for our oldest. All good gifts come down from the Father of Lights.

Though most of my earthly belongings are tucked away in boxes in a garage across town, no-one and nothing can take away, my eternal possession, my relationship with Jesus Christ. No one can stop my prayers or steals my salvation and for this I shout Thanksgiving to God!
