"I think I did what is maybe uncommon in this town," said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. "I opened my mouth and stated the obvious."
Gibbs over the weekend publicly acknowledged for the first time that Republicans could win control of the House.
It was not a far-fetched conclusion. A new Gallup poll found 38 percent of Republicans very enthusiastic about the midterm elections, compared to 25 percent of Democrats, (link inserted by me).
Democrats may even be in danger in the Senate as well. Why? Because of Obama’s performance and a lack of confidence that his and Congressional Democrats’ policies are working. He lacks credibility
He lacks credibility on immigration. For instance several Democratic Governors are cautioning him about the lawsuit against Arizona over their immigration law that is about to take effect. At the same time DOJ won’t sue sanctuary cities that are actually violating federal law. The Democratic Governors know this is a toxic issue for them with as more voters are embarrassed by the political class than by Arizona and the majority of American are not in favor of this lawsuit. So they pleaded with Obama to focus on jobs:
While the weak economy dominated the official agenda at the summer meeting here of the National Governors Association, concern over immigration policy pervaded the closed-door session between Democratic governors and White House officials and simmered throughout the three-day event.
At the Democrats’ meeting on Saturday, some governors bemoaned the timing of the Justice Department lawsuit, according to two governors who spoke anonymously because the discussion was private.
Perhaps that is advice they should have given a long time ago, but everything he seems to be doing in that arena is coming up short.
Consider a just released CBS poll that you can read below:
What jumped out at me is that only 25% of Americans think that the economy is getting better. 52% of Americans think President Obama has spent too little time on the economy. What’s more only 13% of Americans think that his polices have helped them, 10% less than those who think his policies have hurt them. In the heartland there is uncertainty over his financial regulatory overhaul. President Obama has zero credibility on the economy.
Then President Obama’s executive order regarding federal funding on abortion, you know the one that convinced Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) to abandon his principles, is already being proven to be a sham. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is giving Pennsylvania $160 Million to set up a high-risk insurance pool that will cover any abortion that is legal in the state. President Obama has zero credibility on federal abortion funding.
So far what we can count on this Administration for is not keeping its word and failure. Well that is change for you.
