I’m sure the start-up of Iran’s nuclear reactor yesterday and then rolling out  their first unmanned bomber today is just a sheer coincidence.

Right.  But don’t worry!  Their nuclear reactor is for peaceful purposes, and according to the always rational Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad… his new “Ambassador of Death” bomber’s main message is one of “peace and friendship.”

I had to laugh out loud at that, literally.  How in the world can one say that a drone created for the specific purpose of dropping bombs (with the possibility of a nuclear weapon within a year many are predicting) give a message of “peace and friendship?”

Well I guess a complete lunatic can utter a statement like that, and this is the man that our President would like to sit down with.  I really, really hope that our President rethinks that because this guy is completely off his rocker.  The only thing that would be accomplished is bolstering his ego.

What we need are real “sticks.”  The only thing that would persuade this regime that becoming a nuclear power isn’t in its best interest is to appeal to their self-preservation.  Proper sanctions, if the entire international community had a backbone to enforce them, could cause enough internal pressure for them to abandon any plans for developing a nuclear weapon.

I don’t have any confidence that will be done, so what we are facing is a rogue nation on the verge of becoming a nuclear power with a potential delivery system that can’t quite reach Israel yet.  But they’re working on it I’m sure.

I can imagine Tel Aviv is considering all of their options, if and when the shoe drops…  which side will our President be on?
