(URBANDALE) – The Branstad/Reynolds campaign today unveiled their latest television ad, titled, “Big, Bad Debt.” The ad, running statewide on network and cable television, highlights Gov. Culver’s ever-expanding debt programs in Iowa, while unemployment is the highest it has been in more than two decades.
“While unemployment and property taxes in Iowa have risen, unfortunately so has our debt level,” said Branstad 2010 campaign manager Jeff Boeyink. “Over the weekend, we found out that the governor’s signature I-JOBS program has been put on a credit watch for the state’s failure to pay its bills. Big debt is bad for Iowa. Terry Branstad will take this state in an entirely different direction, offering meaningful economic development and job creation, and a return to pay-as-you-go budgeting.”
The script of the ad is as follows:
Chorus: Big Debt –Mmmmmm mmmmm
Anncr: Here in Iowa, we call our Governor Chet
Said he give us jobs but what we got was big debt.
Chorus: Big Debt – Big bad Debt.
Anncr: His I jobs plan’s more than a Billion in cost.
While thousands of Iowans have jobs that are lost.
And Ole’ Chet’s spent a couple BILLION more’n he’s taken in
Pushin’ property taxes so high it’s a sinChorus: Big debt.
Anncr: That’s all we get from old Governor Chet – (big debt. )
Chorus: Big bad debt.
