image DES MOINES – U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley’s re-election campaign is airing its first television ads of the fall campaign, beginning today.

“With just eight weeks until Election Day, Chuck Grassley is back on the air with ads across the state,” said campaign manager Bob Renaud. “The message is straightforward and factual: Chuck Grassley works hard for Iowans.”

The 30-second and 60-second spots remind Iowans that Grassley has the longest active voting streak in the U.S. Senate with nearly 6,000 straight votes, that he was voted by Democrats and Republicans as the hardest-working U.S. senator and that he continues to be “pure Iowa.” The ads also note that Grassley is a farmer and former union member who worked on an assembly line.

The shorter spot is narrated by Grassley’s wife, Barbara.

The longer ad features Grassley saying, “It’s an honor to be your senator. I owe you hard work. When the Senate is not in session I’m in Iowa having meetings in all 99 counties every year – not just election year. Then when that work is done, I come home to my farm. I’m listening and working to make your life better.”
