(Des Moines) – American Principles in Action applauds Iowa House Republicans for their loyalty to the Iowan taxpayer and for standing up for parental and local control in education.

Responding to the passage of the Taxpayers First Act (HF 45), American Principles in Action’s State Director, Eric Goranson, issued the following statement.

“I applaud the Republican Leadership in the Iowa House and those representatives who voted for the Taxpayers First Act.  This bill was not only a great first step toward sane levels of state government spending, but it advances the goal of empowering parents and local authorities to set policy on curriculum and preschool programs that best meet their children’s needs.

We are hopeful that the Senate will pass the bill with as few changes as possible and retain the sections of the bill that defund the Iowa Core Curriculum, eliminate the universal preschool program in favor of a means-tested replacement, and continue the House Chamber’s trend toward necessary budget cuts.”
