At CPAC last week Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said something I can wholeheartedly can agree with.  Republicans do need to back to their roots and recognize that there is no constitutional role for the federal government in education.

  1. First off, what do you mean by roots? The republican party was never for abolishing the Department of Education. Do you think Ray, Leach, Ganske, or even Branstad and Grassley were for abolishing it? I doubt they are.

Second, if the federal government wasn’t involved in education, who would be in charge of it? Would it be the municipal government or the county board of supervisors or would it be the state legislature or state board of education? There has to be a standard somewhere. Otherwise schools could get away with illicit things.

  2. Ronald Reagan promised to abolish the Dept. of Education, but then failed to do so. It should be abolished and let each state control its own education policies. Our education system would be more efficient and our children would get a better education!!
