The biggest loser with last night’s Iowa Caucus results is State Senator Kent Sorenson (R-Indianola)

centraliowamapHis turncoat endorsement from Michele Bachmann to Ron Paul probably helped Rick Santorum more than it did Paul.  Not only that, but he couldn’t even deliver his own Senate District.  Looking at the map to the left, Sorenson’s Senate District consists of Warren County, Madison County, and Southern Dallas County.  Dallas County we saw that Romney won handily  with 33% to Santorum’s 20%.  Ron Paul was a distant third with 16%.

Sorenson’s candidate lost Warren and Madison Counties to Rick Santorum by 1%.  What Sorenson managed to do was unify Iowans is disagreement with him, only Ron Paul supporters supported what he did.  I wouldn’t go so far to say he committed political suicide, but I would say he’s got some major bridge building to do in the Iowa Senate and he will be fortunate to win reelection.

I hope it was worth it.
