telemed abortions 1Some breaking news from Iowa Right to Life.  In an email to supporters they announced that the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland’s satellite location in Ankeny, IA has stopped providing webcam abortions also referred to as telemed abortions.  These abortions would allow a Planned Parenthood physician from Des Moines, IA to visit with a patient by webcam and then press a button on their computer which would open a drawer in front of the patient.  This patient could be up to 190 miles away.  The patient would then reach into the drawer and takes the abortion pills.  No follow-up care, and no doctor present incase anything goes wrong.

A component of Planned Parenthood’s version of women’s health care.

Iowa Right to Life says the clinic has not closed yet, but they learned last week that they are no longer providing this service.  The Ankeny, IA location has been ongoing 40 Days of Life vigil site and has also received year-round prayer from countless individuals and the DMACC Students for Life chapter.

Some good news!

Update: I wanted to share an additional resource.  Americans United for Life has additional information about the telemed abortion practice.
