(Watchdog.org) Lincoln, NE – When it comes to a plan aimed at putting guns in teachers’ hands, Gov. Dave Heineman is lukewarm at best.
For the second time in three years Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial is looking to push legislation allowing teachers to bring a concealed weapon into the classroom.
According to the Associated Press, the western Nebraska lawmaker’s new proposal would find teachers allowed to obtain a concealed carry permit along with added training, possibly in a simulated school setting.
Nebraska Watchdog first reported Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Brad Ashford opposes the plan.
In an on-camera interview (see video below), Heineman worries a gun guarding classrooms could do more harm than good.
