(Hubbard, IA) Republican Party of Iowa chairman Jeff Kaufmann joined U.S. Sens. Chuck Grassley, Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Ron Johnson, R-Wis. and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Saturday to support state Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Red Oak in her campaign against trial lawyer and Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Waterloo.  They were in attendance at an annual event hosted by Iowa Board of Regents president and agricultural entrepreneur Bruce Rastetter.

“There couldn’t be a clearer contrast between Joni Ernst—a mother, a soldier and the embodiment of rural Iowa values, and Bruce Braley—a career politician who literally makes fun of Iowa farmers in out-of-state meetings with trial lawyers. As a seventh generation Iowan living on my family farm, Bruce Braley’s attitude offends me.” Kaufmann said. “I was thrilled to welcome Sens. Rubio, Johnson and Cruz to Iowa to make the case to voters that Iowans cannot afford Braley in the U.S. Senate.”

The Republican Party of Iowa released two web videos Sunday featuring comments by Sens. Rubio and Johnson on Iowa’s U.S. Senate race:

“Joni [Ernst] would help us retake the Senate, but she’s a special candidate,” Rubio said. “I wish we had 10 Joni Ernsts running around the country. She’s a unique candidate, has incredible credibility when it comes to service to our country—both in uniform and here in the state of Iowa, and we need to send her to the United States Senate. I’m just imploring the people of Iowa to do everything they can to send her to the U.S. Senate.”

“On issue after issue [Bruce Braley] has proven that he’s more interested in protecting trial lawyers and special interests that prop up the Democratic party than he is interested in serving the state or our country in regards to the major issues we’re facing,” Rubio said.

“Bruce Braley—he’s dedicated to growing [the federal government],” Johnson said. “Joni Ernst is not.. If we’re going to get this country back on the right path of a limited government with growing the private sector with good-paying jobs for a strong middle class, we have to stop growing government. So, we have to stop sending people like Bruce Braley to Washington dedicated to growing it. Instead, we have to start sending people like Joni Ernst, who really understands what made this country great…”

“We need more farmers, like Senator Grassley. We need people that  have served in the military, like Joni Ernst. We need people that actually understand and respect the private sector,” Johnson said. “That’s people like Chuck Grassley, that’s people like Joni Ernst. It’s not Bruce Braley.”

“I think you’ve all seen the video of Bruce Braley in front of a table of whiskey bottles, in front of the trial lawyers, saying that it would be a disgrace… for a farmer from Iowa to be head of the Judiciary Committee,” Johnson said. “I think nothing could be further from the truth. We need citizen legislators. We need people who actually understand what real Americans, real Iowans are going through.”
