After losing the Indiana primary to Donald Trump on May 3rd, Senator Ted Cruz announced that he would be suspending his campaign. This announcement was devastating for Cruz supporters and campaigners such as myself, Never Trump adherents, conservatives and lovers of liberty. The thought of Donald Trump as the GOP nominee has revved up the Never Trump movement and has helped to drastically increase Libertarian Party membership. However, does the only hope for true liberty lovers exist within a third party candidate?

Maybe not. Appearing on conservative media mogul Glenn Beck’s radio program earlier today, Senator Cruz says that if he wins Nebraska, it is possible that the Cruz 2016 campaign will restart. He stated, “We launched this campaign intending to win. The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the Indiana loss, I felt there was no path to victory. If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly.”

This is why suspension of a campaign is a much better choice than completely ending it. While most candidates who suspended their campaigns earlier on have no hope of moving forward, Cruz has stayed in through the majority of the primaries and is still on all the ballots. He also has many delegates that are bound to him by state law, and he will not be releasing them before the convention. There are 36 delegates up for grabs in Nebraska today, and if Cruz wins the state, it could tilt the party back toward a contested convention.

Long shot? Maybe. The important part is that there still IS a shot for Senator Cruz and his campaign. Nebraskans, get to the polls!
