U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said that former FBI Director James Comey should testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee and it would be smart for him to do so.

During a press avail the day before her Roast and Ride event near Boone that will feature Vice President Mike Pence addressed a question about Comey’s testimony as the White House has indicated are considering invoking executive privilege in order to block his testimony..

“I think that Director Comey should testify in front of the committee. I think that it is a smart move and we want to hear what he  has to say,” Ernst said.

Ernst was also asked if she believed whether or not the Russia investigation was warranted.

“I think we should look into any allegations that are out there, and we have been doing this for a number of months now. So, between the House, between the Senate, it is a bipartisan committee in both chambers and they will continue to investigate. So I think it is smart, and I think he should testify,” she answered.
