Congressman David Young (R-Iowa) received an endorsement from the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List for his re-election bid in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District.

“Susan B. Anthony List is pleased to endorse Representative David Young, a steadfast pro-life ally in Congress,” Former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs, said. “Rep. Young brings to Congress a tireless work ethic and firm commitment to Iowa’s values. He has a 100 percent pro-life record and has co-sponsored legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy, redirect tax dollars away from abortion businesses, and protect the constitutional rights of pro-life health care workers. His opponent Cindy Axne is an extremist backed by the radical pro-abortion group EMILY’s List. Axne is dramatically out of step with constituents, while Rep. Young fights for Iowa women, children, and taxpayers. We encourage pro-life voters to support Rep. Young and look forward to seeing him re-elected.

Young who was first elected in 2014 has co-sponsored several pro-life bills in his time in office such as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, and the Conscience Protection Act.

Young’s Democrat challenger, Cindy Axne, has been endorsed by Emily’s List, a national organization that helps elect pro-abortion female candidates, as well as, NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) who also supports pro-abortion candidates. She also has the support of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Axne on her website promises to “ensure” that taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood continues, as well as, to keep “fight to keep Washington politicians out of the Doctor’s office and out of the personal decisions between women and their doctors.”

Planned Parenthood does not provide any services, with the exception of abortion, that can’t be found elsewhere in greater abundance.

According to the National Association of Community Health Centers, there are 14 federally qualified health care (FQHC) centers operating in 91 service sites serving 179,599 Iowa residents per year this only includes community health centers.  This doesn’t include pregnancy centers provide prenatal care, ultrasounds, and childbirth classes, along with other services to women facing unplanned pregnancies. There are now just eight Planned Parenthood clinics none of whom provide even mammograms and most of which do not have a doctor on staff.  In contrast, there are 28 centers that are members of Free Clinics of Iowa.  Also the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services list 170 rural health clinics in Iowa.
