DES MOINES, Iowa – Test Iowa will open three new clinic sites for COVID-19 in communities across the state beginning Monday, June 22, 2020.
The new clinic sites include:
- Dickinson County: Dickinson County Fairgrounds Expo Building, 1602 15th St., Spirit Lake, opening Mon., June 22
- Dubuque County: Epic Health and Wellness Clinic, 1075 Cedar Cross Rd., Dubuque, opens Mon., June 22
- Cass County: Cass County Health System, 1500 East 10th St., Atlantic, opening Tues., June 23
Clinic sites are partnerships between the State of Iowa and local health care providers to increase access to testing in their communities. Clinics operate and staff the test sites. The state provides testing supplies and processes the samples through the State Hygienic Lab.
Dickinson County saw an uptick in positive cases, currently at 181 cases since their first recorded case on May 19, 2020. Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 4,311 residents have completed a Test Iowa assessment. The county also reports one outbreak in a long-term care facility. Accura Care of Milford reports ten COVID-19 cases.
Dubuque County has reported 397 cases but hit its peak in mid-May, 18,109 residents completed an assessment. Dubuque County still has an active outbreak at Dubuque Specialty Care that reports 51 cases. Cass County only has 16 documented cases, but 353 of the county’s residents completed an assessment.
At the time of publication, IDPH reports 24,861 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. There were 312 new cases reported on Wednesday, with a positivity rate of six percent, and they report 193 new cases on Thursday thus far. Also, IDPH says 15,655 Iowans have recovered for a recovery rate of 63 percent among those testing positive, and 680 Iowans have died.
Test Iowa offers ten drive-up test sites for Iowans to receive a test for COVID-19 in Black Hawk, Buena Vista, Dallas, Linn, Marshall, Polk, Pottawattamie, Scott, Sioux, and Wapello counties. Seven clinics are offering to test using Test Iowa testing supplies in Black Hawk, Carroll, Crawford, Des Moines, Mitchell, Page, and Union counties.
Individuals who wish to get tested at any site must first complete the online assessment at testiowa.com. They will then be directed to schedule an appointment.
Test Iowa is a statewide initiative to expand COVID-19 testing. Locations and hours of operation for all test sites can be found at testiowa.com or coronavirus.iowa.gov.
