(URBANDALE) – Gov. Culver today embarked on his “Wall Street vs. Main Street” tour, again trying to cause divisions on the campaign trail as he attempts to scare people into voting for him, following four years of mismanagement and the loss of 55,000 jobs in Iowa.

Chet Culver’s record on Main Street businesses speaks for itself, as evidenced by this Midwest comparison map, showing Iowa’s shop owners paying some of the highest rates in the country. View it HERE. In fact, Culver’s bad budget management caused skyrocketing property taxes.1

In response to this tour, Branstad 2010 campaign manager Jeff Boeyink released the following quote:

“Chet Culver thinks tax cuts to keep our Main Streets alive are bad for Iowa. Terry Branstad’s tax proposals will go almost exclusively to Iowa companies, creating Iowa jobs.

“Chet Culver acts like he’s waking up to the problems on Main Street, because he has been asleep for the past four years. His actions as governor have been overtly hostile to Iowa’s Main Street businesses, forcing property tax hikes on Iowa’s job creators and their employees.

“Terry Branstad is the candidate who has visited all of Iowa’s 99 counties. His visits were not about the latest photo op, but they instead informed him on the real problems facing Iowa’s Main Street job creators, the biggest of which being Chet Culver’s skyrocketing property taxes.

“Chet Culver’s skyrocketing property taxes have forced businesses to shudder their doors and prevented the further hiring of Iowans. At the same time, 55,000 Iowans have lost their jobs and Chet Culver has offered no meaningful plan to fix them.”

Terry Branstad has a plan for Main Street jobs.  That plan is found HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE.
