Birdland Neighborhood - Source - Des Moines Register Des Moines, for the most part, dodged a real bullet.  The downtown levies held, and we didn’t see nearly the amount of flooding that occurred in 1993.  I was saddened to hear that the Birdland Levy didn’t hold flooding North High School and the businesses and residents of the Birdland Neighborhood.

North High School - Source - Des Moines Register

Cedar Rapids and Iowa City were probably the hardest hit.  The Des Moines Register has good statewide coverage on the flooding impact.

We took some video of flooding close to our house and what was going on downtown Des Moines with the Des Moines River.

I also uploaded some pictures to Facebook  that Cheryl and my oldest daughter took of downtown.  I have that album set to public so you shouldn’t have a problem viewing them.

Please continue to pray for those affected by the floods, and for communities in southeast Iowa who are dealing with the flooding that we just saw.  If you feel so led you can also give to help victims of these floods by going here,
