The Congressional Budget Office announced yesterday the deal made by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and President Barack Obama is mere pittance of a pittance…. instead of the $38 Billion in spending cuts that was announced late Friday night, we’re going to see our deficit cut by (drumroll please) $352 million.
The editors at The National Review originally supported the deal, and now they’re backing off with the CBO news. Former Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) has come out against it. Another prospective 2012 candidate, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) voted against the continuing resolution on Friday and has indicated she will vote against the deal. Former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) was already against the deal before this news came out.
Governor Haley Barbour (R-MS) and Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) weighed in favor and former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) urged Congress to make the deal. Is he rethinking this now.
What I thought was a horrible deal on Saturday now looks even worse. What exactly did Republicans get out of this deal again?
