President Barack Obama seems quite content to accomplish through executive order what he is able to see passed through Congress. He’s certainly not the first to do this, but his record is the most egregious of late. A couple of past examples, though he was working with a Democrat controlled House and Senate, he didn’t see the cap-and-trade bill passed. Never fear tree-hugging friends, he had the EPA issue regulations to accomplish the same goal (which I would argue is the destruction of our economy), and we saw energy prices go up.
Thank you Mr. President, may I have another?
Ah yes, in education, the have seen the implementation of the common core standards standards. Congress never passed them, but yet the Department of Education required their implementation for states applying to the Race to the Trough Top funds. Those states who have implemented (like my home state of Iowa) are doing so without a legislative vote. So here we see an education revolution of sorts without the people.
His administration in effect rewrote bankruptcy rules to facilitate the automotive bailout. He also issued an executive order to reshape No Child Left Behind when Congress failed to restructure the law.
For his hat trick, he now ordered the halt of deportation of illegal aliens without criminal records. Creating in effect allowing a backdoor amnesty. Does he wonder why his approval rating has hit an all time low? Congressman Steve King (R-IA) wonders if this latest executive order had some personal benefit with his Uncle Omar having some difficulty of late.
With an existing deportation order, it is not surprising to learn that ‘Uncle Omar’ Obama told police officers that his first call would be to his nephew in the White House. Now that the executive branch has gotten into the business of undermining the Rule of Law, there is little question that anyone who is connected to the President, politically or otherwise, will have an advantage, just like President Obama’s Aunt Zeituni Onyango, when it comes time to determine who is granted amnesty. This raises a troubling list of questions about the potential for preferential treatment, and is yet another reason Congress should hold hearings to expose Obama’s executive amnesty program.
Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution states that “all legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” While I don’t believe it is an impeachable offense, it is time for Congress to remind the President who is supposed to legislate and who is supposed to execute that legislation and protect its Constitutional powers.
