Chuck Colson

Chuck Colson went home to be with God today after 80 years.

The first half of Chuck Colson’s life was spent climbing the political ladder and building a career of worldly success achieved through ruthless ambition and loyalty. In its wake was left his broken first marriage and his once promising political career ended with a prison sentence.

But that was not the end of Chuck Colson’s life. It was the only a beginning. His life was transformed by the power of Jesus Christ and he became a mighty witness for Him.  The first half of his life was spent reaching out to the rich and powerful to gain the next run on the latter, the second half of his life was spent reaching out to prisoners, to the downcast and downtrodden, and bringing them the transforming power of Christ.

In addition, Colson shared biblical truth with a world ready to embrace the madness of the new post-Christian age.  This second half of his life was spent as a voice for the prisoner, the unborn, and for Christian values.

God used Chuck Colson to touch the lives of millions of prisoners and their families, as well as impacting the broader American culture. He was a testimony to the power of God to change our lives, to turn our focus from the love of power to the power of God’s love.

May God bless and be with the family of this modern giant of the Faith.
