Iowa Independent reports:

For the third time in as many election cycles, Bob Vander Plaats will run for the GOP’s nomination for governor in 2010.

The Sioux City Republican will make the announcement official on today’s Jan Mickelson show on WHO Radio.

Vander Plaats finished third in a three-way primary in 2002. In 2006, he withdrew his from the primary in favor of being Jim Nussle’s running mate in the general election.

He already has his website up and running.

Vander Platts was recently the Iowa chairman of Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.  Huckabee won the Iowa Caucus handily beating favorite, Mitt Romney.

It will be interesting to see who else decides to run, but I think it is very likely that Governor Culver may very well be the first one-term governor we’ve had in awhile.
