South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley encapsulated how harmful President Barack Obama is to federalism and our economy.  She said, echoing what other Republican governors had said earlier during the Republican National Convention, “the hardest part of my job has been this federal government, this administration, and this president.”  She said that President Obama “will do everything he can to stand in your way.”

She cited three examples in South Carolina:

“South Carolina recently passed one of the most innovative immigration laws in the country.  What did this President who has failed to secure our borders and address this issue in any meaningful way?  He sued us,” Haley said as the crowd booed.  Haley continued, “If this President refuses to secure our borders, and refuses to protect our citizens from the dangers of illegal immigration then the states must take it upon themselves.”

She also addressed how South Carolina addressed potential voter fraud.  “We said in South Carolina that if you had to show picture ID to buy Sudafed, if you had to show picture ID to set foot on an airplane, then you should have to show picture ID to protect one of the most valuable, most essential, sacred and blessed rights in America – the right to vote.  And what happened?  President Obama stopped us.”

She referenced what she said was the worst example, President Obama’s involvement in Boeing coming to their state.  “In 2009 South Carolina was blessed to welcome a great American company that chose to stay in our country to continue to do business.  That company was Boeing.  Boeing started a new line for their 787 Dreamliner,” Haley explained, "creating a 1000 new jobs in South Carolina giving our state a shot in the arm when we really needed it.”

She explained that at the same time Boeing was adding 2000 jobs at their plant in Washington State.  “Not a single person was hurt by their decision, not one.  And what did President Obama and his National Labor Relations Board do?  They sued this iconic American company.  It was shameful and not worthy of the promise of America.”

She said they won that battle by “getting loud” and because the rest of the nation “got loud” with them.  She said Boeing recently had their first plane roll out in North Charleston, SC with 6000 non-union employees “cheering it on.”

Haley said that Americans deserve better, “We deserve a President who won’t sacrifice American jobs and American workers to pacify the bullying union bosses he counts as political allies.”  She added, “American businesses deserve a federal government that doesn’t stand in their way.”
