A couple of weeks ago Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA was interviewed by Larry King, his first interview since giving the invocation at President Obama’s inauguration.

HT: Mike Demastus

This seems like a reversal from his interview with Ann Curry prior to the Inauguration.  I can understand that he doesn’t want to be considered an activist on this issue.  He wouldn’t be the first pastor to desire that, but to say “I’m not anti-gay marriage,” and (Correction: he said “I am not an anti-gay marriage activist.”  I misquoted him.  That wasn’t intentional, but I was inaccurate.  I do want to be fair to Pastor Warren, so I apologize for the inaccuracy) to apologize for guiding people in his congregation regarding a biblical definition of marriage?  I understand that he doesn’t want to hurt his witness to homosexuals that he is friends with, but we need to be clear about what the Bible teaches.

I wasn’t going to blog on Rick Warren, until another story came out about Miss California, Carrie Prejean, being interviewed by Perez Hilton was asked about her view on gay marriage during the Miss America Pageant.  It was probably very temping to her to give the answer she knew Hilton would have wanted to hear, but instead stood by her principles (I have to admit I cringed a little at her calling it “opposite” marriage).

HT: Family Research Council

I don’t think it’s presumptuous to say it cost her the title.  I have to say I love the tolerance that Hilton is demonstrating himself.  How did he get to be a judge anyway?  If I were Miss Prejean I would have said, “I believe as President Obama believes, that marriage is between a man and a woman.”

Who demonstrated more courage on this issue Prejean or Warren?
