David-Young.jpg(Van Meter, IA) The congressional campaign of David Young, former Chief of Staff to Senator Chuck Grassley, today announced the endorsements of former Iowa State Auditor Richard Johnson and four county auditors from the 3rd congressional district.

Iowa State Auditor Richard Johnson, Dallas County Auditor Gene Krumm, Fremont County Auditor Joan Kirk, Guthrie County Auditor Jerri Christman, and Mills County Auditor Carol Robertson have all decided to support David Young as the candidate best prepared and equipped to replace retiring Congressman Tom Latham.

“As auditors, we believe in the responsibility of elected officials to run government within its means,” said Auditor Gene Krumm.  “David’s Better Budget Principles,’ if enacted, would reduce federal spending.  As former Chief of Staff for Senator Grassley, David worked with whistle blowers to stop wasteful spending and the misuse of Iowa taxpayer dollars.  We need a congressman like David who is ready to hit the ground running.”

David’s message to voters throughout Iowa’s 3rd district has included a series of principles to get the nation’s spending and budgeting back in line.  These include: passing a balanced budget amendment to the constitution; creating a tax code that is fairer, flatter, and simpler; repealing Obamacare; and ensuring that legislation has a built-in sunset clause so temporary laws don’t outlive their usefulness at an unfair cost to taxpayers.

“I’m excited and humbled to have earned the support of these outstanding public servants,” said David.  “They know the hard work that goes into administering government, budgeting reasonably, and serving as a watchdog for the taxpayer.  I look forward to serving my neighbors and fellow Iowans in the 3rd district with the same tenacity.”

These are the latest endorsements in a wave of support for Young’s candidacy.  Last week David was endorsed by former Iowa Congressmen Jim Ross Lightfoot and Tom Tauke.

David was born and raised in Van Meter, the same Dallas County town where he lives today.  Until June of last year, David served as Senator Grassley’s Chief of Staff, where he worked alongside Iowa’s senior senator every day for the people of Iowa.
