Joni Ernst(Des Moines, IA) Mother, soldier, and proven conservative, Joni Ernst, today announced that her campaign for United States Senate has far surpassed the requirements set forth by the Iowa Secretary of State to appear on the primary election ballot in June.

“I am honored to have earned the trust of so many Iowa Republicans from every corner of our great state, and am so thankful to all of our county leaders who make up “Team Joni” for helping us achieve this initial threshold.” said Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst.

In order to qualify for the ballot, prospective candidates must collect and submit to the Secretary signatures from Iowans across the state, demonstrating a minimum threshold of support for candidacies both statewide and within a specific number of counties.  Minimum thresholds are determined by a formula based on the previous general election’s votes cast by party.

While there is still nearly a month left to collect signatures before the official deadline, Joni is proud to have, in recent months, received the signatures of several hundreds more Iowans than are required, and has met the minimum threshold in more than double the counties required.  The campaign will continue to collect signatures as the deadline approaches, but to date, has obtained signatures from 93 of the 99 counties.

This news shows the continued grassroots strength of the Ernst campaign, as it comes on the heels of an announcement that it has received contributions from all 99 Iowa counties.
