(Sioux City, IA) Phyllis Schlafly and her Eagle Forum announced today their endorsement of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sam Clovis.  “I am humbled to receive this endorsement,” said Clovis.  “Phyllis Schlafly and her organization have done so much to lead the cause of the conservative movement.  For Phyllis Schlafly to recognize our shared commitment is a very big moment for this campaign.”

Sam Clovis is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Tom Harkin.  Sen. Harkin has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this Congressional session.

“Sam knows how important traditional values, a strong national defense and limited government are to America’s success,” said Schlafly.    Schlafly continued by saying that Sam brings together expertise, conviction and dedication.  “He tells the truth and defends the timeless principles of our great country.”

Phyllis Schlafly founded the Eagle Forum in 1972.  The Eagle Forum is a pro-family base of national volunteers.  Their issues range from those of the Supreme Court and the Constitution to religion and education.  The Eagle Forum is a conservative public policy organization.

Sam Clovis holds a Masters in Business Administration in Management and a Doctorate in Public Administration.  He is currently a tenured full professor at a private liberal arts college in northwest Iowa.  He served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and still provides leadership to defense and homeland security institutions.  He lives in Hinton, IA with his wife Charlotte and stepson Khan.  More information on the candidate and his campaign may be obtained at www.samclovis.com.
