(Dubuque, IA) Today Rod Blum, Republican nominee for United States Congress in Iowa’s First District, released his campaign’s second general election television commercial, a thirty-second ad titled “Malcolm.”

The ad relates the story of Malcolm Stewart, whose father was killed in a Chicago drug deal. Malcolm and his mother moved to Dubuque, where he played basketball for Rod Blum at Dubuque Senior High School. Malcolm was orphaned when his mother passed away from cancer at age 42, and the Blums took him into their family. Last May, Malcolm graduated with honors from the University of Dubuque.

“While career politician Pat Murphy blatantly lies about Rod’s small business success, our campaign will continue to focus on stories of opportunity and success like Malcolm’s which make America the greatest country in the world,” said campaign spokesman Keegan Conway. “Rod believes everyone should have the opportunity to realize the American Dream through personal responsibility, hard work, and perseverance, and that’s why we will keep working hard every day spreading our positive message across the First District instead of resorting to false and desperate attacks like our career politician opponent.”
