Marg(Red Oak, IA) Margaret Stoldorf, well known Republican activist, has announced her intention to seek the District 12 State Senate seat, vacated by US Senator-Elect Joni Ernst with her resignationon Friday.

Said Stoldorf, “It is my unique blend of experience and skills that will allow me to continue and build upon Senator Ernst’s exemplary work in the State Senate.”

Stoldorf points to her broad experience as an executive for major corporations, as a small business owner, with work in law enforcement, and as manager of her family’s farm. Stoldorf also noted that her election to the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors provided an insight into local government operations as tied to state government.  Stoldorf is a long-serving activist in the Republican Party, and currently serves as Montgomery County Republican Chair, Third District Republican Executive Committee Chair, and as co-founder and leader of IGOP, an alliance of Republican organizations in Southwest Iowa.

“Because of my knowledge of agriculture, large and small business, politics and government, I am confident that I can work with all entities to accomplish a great deal for the citizens of the District. It is my objective to listen to the people in Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Taylor and Ringgold Counties, and to ensure they have a voice in the Capitol.”

Yesterday Governor Terry Branstad ordered the special election in Senate District 12 to be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.  Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann sent out a call to convention for that district’s voting delegates.  It will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7:00p at the Clarinda LIED Center Gym (1140 E. Main St., Clarinda, IA).
