Do you hear that? If you listen close enough you can hear liberal minds exploding over former Governor Mike Huckabee’s comments on Wednesday to the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference that ended yesterday in Houston, TX.
Huckabee told the group that even if our nation’s highest court does decide to overturn all state laws protecting marriage they can’t overrule God.
“I respect the courts, but the Supreme Court is only that — the supreme of the courts. It is not the supreme being. It cannot overrule God. When it comes to prayer, when it comes to life, and when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, the court cannot change what God has created,” Huckabee said.
He’s right. Marriage is something God instituted. The Supreme Court may think that they are protecting a “right” should they rule in favor of same-sex marriage, but that doesn’t make it “right.” Anything definition that is not one man, one woman for life is simply a shadow of what God intended. They may call it marriage, but it is a false representation regardless of what the court determines.
It has not been that long ago where Huckabee’s remarks would have been accepted at face value without any argument. Now they are deemed extreme and the left mocks them and seeks to drum that perspective out of the public square.
These remarks came after Huckabee while in Iowa over the weekend warned about Christianity becoming “criminalized” at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition Spring Kickoff in Waukee, IA, doubling down on similar comments he made during a conference call.
Huckabee said to conservative activists in Iowa:
I said that we are rapidly moving toward the criminalization of Christianity. And I think they thought that if they really just attacked me for saying that, that I’d back off. Well, let me be clear tonight. I’m not backing off, because what I’m saying is true: we are criminalizing Christianity in this country by telling people who hold to an orthodox biblical world view, of biblical marriage, that if you still believe that, and practice that, and adhere to that, that you will now be guilty of discrimination which could be resulting in some type of civil or criminal action against you. That, my friend, is exactly what I mean when I say it is the criminalization of Christianity.
It’s not hard to see that with LGBT activists trying to erode the basic freedom of religious conscience. Even here in West Des Moines there are a group of students are trying to convince the West Des Moines School Board to stop renting their facilities to Dowling Catholic High School because of their decision to not hire an openly gay teacher that made news earlier this month.
So having a biblical view of marriage will lead to further intolerance by the left under the guise of “tolerance.” Even so the definition of marriage will always stay the same in God’s eyes regardless of what the Supreme Court decides and how badly the left will demonize those who hold that position.
