Jim Gibbons announced this morning that his campaign is launching their first TV ad in Iowa’s Third Congressional District race.   entitled “The Mat” which he highlights his transition from being a championship wrestler to coach at Iowa State University into his career as a financial planner.

His campaign reports that they have purchased a significant amount of air time on both network and cable TV.  Gibbons isn’t the first to have run an ad in this campaign, Brad Zaun did as well in January.  This ad, leading up the June 8th primary, with satellite voting starting today in Polk County, as well as, absentee ballots, it is well timed.

You can watch the ad here or below:

I believe the positive tone of this ad will be helpful in connecting with undecided voters, and running an extensive TV ad campaign demonstrates that he had the resources to compete in the general election if he wins the nomination.
