image My wife, Cheryl, discovered this on KCCI’s Alert page under Webster County:

flash flood warning for: humboldt county in north central Iowa, northern webster county in central Iowa, wright county in north central Iowa,
Until 530 am cdt
At 1141 pm cdt, national weather service doppler radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Radar rainfall estimates that 2 to 4 inches has fallen over the area.
Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include, belmond, clarion, dakota city, eagle grove and humboldt.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Turn around, don’t drown. (emphasis mine)

I’m sure the good folks in Northern Webster County and Wright County appreciate the reminder not to drown.
