The U.S. Senate voted 51-50 to send a bill reversing an Obama-era rule directing state family planning money to Planned Parenthood to the President’s desk.
Senate Democrats defeated a cloture vote Monday on a motion to proceed with a bill that would have defunded Planned Parenthood on federal taxpayer funds.
The U.S. Senate failed to ratify the CRPD Treaty on a 61 to 38 vote. Eight Republicans voted in favor as did all Democratic Senators.
This week’s edition of five things I wanted to point out, but was too lazy to turn into individual posts: 1. A Post-Mortem of Michele Bachmann’s campaign. Jennifer Jacobs of The Des Moines Register sheds some light on problems within the campaign, things that some of on the ground outside the campaign sensed even if […]
The branches of the United States military will soon have to enlist those who are openly gay as the Senate passed a repeal of the Clinton-era “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy with a 65-31 vote moving the bill to the White House to be signed by President Obama. Unlike some (the majority of whom I […]
“I support him in this fight because this D.C. Beltway thuggery, as exemplified by Lisa Murkowski’s latest threat, is ruining our country” That is Governor Sarah Palin, from her Facebook page, boldly defending a talk show host who has often spoken against her in the past. What is going on? First, Senator Murkowski has tried […]

I don’t think Joe Miller’s latest ad in the Alaska Senate Race is quite as funny as his last one. I do give him kudos for thinking outside the box. A little parody of Christine O’Donnell’s ad, a nod to Harry Potter and we certainly have a unique political ad. It’s amazing how the Democrat […]
By Sarah Palin I have never seen a candidate stoop as low as was seen last night in Alaska’s senatorial debate. Alaska’s Joe Miller is facing a tough three-way race for U.S. Senate. Though Joe decisively defeated the incumbent Senator in the primary, and though she conceded the race to him, she reneged on her […]
Joe Miller’s campaign launched what has to be my most favorite ad this election cycle in the Alaska Senate Race. It is a parody of the Old Spice commercials, and it does an excellent job of mocking Lisa Murkowski’s write-in campaign (in a manly way). It reminds voters, hey she’s already been beaten once. So […]
Victory at last! From CNN: Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded late Tuesday to Tea Party-backed candidate Joe Miller in Alaska’s GOP Senate primary. "We know that we still have outstanding votes to count in this primary, but based on where we are right now, I don’t see a scenario where the primary will turn out […]
The Anchorage Daily News reports that Incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski will not be allowed to run as a Libertarian should the final outcome of the Republican Senate Primary leave her in the cold with Joe Miller going on to face whatshisname in the general election. The Alaska Libertarian Party will not consider allowing Lisa […]
The National Republican Senatorial Committee lawyer is back in D.C., yesterday the Anchorage Daily News reported on NRSC spokesperson Brian Walsh’s statement regarding mysterious calls being made to Alaskan Republicans who voted absentee: "Bottom line, we’re not making phone calls to anyone, and we have told both campaigns that whomever is chosen by the voters […]
Though the final results of Tuesday’s Alaska Republican Senate Primary is not in, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that incumbent Lisa Murkowski lost to challenger Joe Miller. She would need to win 60% of the absentee ballots that come to surpass Miller and that is not likely to happen. Don’t worry though, the National […]
The Daily Beast reports that “sources” close to Murkowski say she’s considering a third party run in light of her not-quite-yet loss to challenger Joe Miller in Alaska’s Republican Senate Primary now that all of the precincts are in and she’s waiting for the absentee ballots. Even then the path will be difficult as she […]
Almost in the books as an upset, but not quite. With 98% of precincts reporting in Joe Miller holds a 51% to 49% edge over incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski. This was a race where Miller trailed in the polls, and political analysts predicted a victory by Murkowski. One factor was the endorsement of Miller by […]
