If Sarah Palin is so irrelevant as many in the left roots would claim why is it that the DNC is attacking her? Vice President Joe Biden decided to chime in today as well when he spoke to a gigantic, huge crowd of 250 people (50 were with the media) in Watertown, NY… (I seem to remember Governor Palin attracted 20,000 up in that neck of the woods).
CNN’s Political Ticker reported:
Later in his remarks, the vice president couldn’t help but return to the subject of the former Alaska governor when the issue of energy came up.
"Sarah Palin thinks the answer to energy is ‘Drill, baby, drill,’ he said, leaning into the microphone. "It’s a lot more complicated, Sarah, than drill baby drill."
Then Politico 44 reports his mention of her endorsement of Hoffman:
The crowd boos as Biden mentions Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Doug Hoffman. He jumps in: "Look, she just has — her views are real and they’re consistent with [Dick] Armey and with [Rush] Limbaugh and with Dick Cheney. Look, these guys are entitled to their views."
I think he’s still mad that she smoked him in their VP debate, but Governor Palin responded on Facebook in the first five minutes had a much larger audience than he did in Watertown. She said:
As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America’s consumption and security needs.
The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”
This nonsensical opposition to American domestic energy development continues to this day. Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians. This election is about American security and American jobs.
There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!
– Sarah Palin
Seriously does he really want to debate energy issues with Sarah Palin? No, and really the irrelevant one is Vice President Joe Biden who is going to find out that his campaigning is being done in vain up in NY 23.
Update: I forgot that Biden’s in a “gaffe-free zone” now. Sad that he has to be happy about that. Josh, thanks for the reminder.
2nd Update: Great op-ed at the Cypresss Times
As you know, just days after the self proclaimed “owner of the democrat party” Nazi collaborator, and criminal currency speculator, George Soros, bought controlling interest in Brazilian oil company Petrobas, Barack Obama “loaned” the oil giant $10 billion hard earned tax payer greenbacks!
When it comes to energy independence, Sarah Palin is very much someone who is an “all of the above approach” leader. Sarah has consistently advocated clean renewable energy, and put Alaska on a path to get 50 percent of it’s energy through renewables, exactly double the goal Barack Obama set for America as a whole!
Sarah is a big advocate of solar and wind, but understands we must also have nuclear as well as clean coal, natural gas, and yes, oil. No matter what “magic bullet” research may come up with, conventional sources of energy will be with us for generations to come.
