imageGreat quote from Martin Luther from the book, The Unquenchable Flame: Discovering the Heart of the Reformation by Michael Reeves.

Sinners are attractive because they are loved; they are not loved because they are attractive.

That is the unfathomable fact of God’s love that He would love the unlovely, the wretched, those living in immorality.. And not only does He love them He sent His Son Jesus to die for those who did not love Him.

And I am thankful to be counted among those who dead in their sins and transgressions made alive in Christ.

  1. Today at Biola’s Torrey Academy, a young man presented his final paper on Luther. One thing that he shared jumped into my heart as convicting, “It is the duty of every Christian to be Christ to his neighbour.” Luther. Though this seems obvious, as Christians, “Little Christs”, to be Christ like to our neighbors, the phrasing “to be Christ” brings it to level that is not just going through the Christian motions, but rather letting Christ’s life fully devour us, so there is no more us, but only Him.
