Jamie Foxx at the Soul Train Awards on BET aired on Sunday said, “First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama.”

Here’s a promo video for the awards which highlights Foxx’s comments:

Now I’m going to assume that this was meant to be a joke… I hope. Even so it was in poor taste if that was the case. Based on the audience’s reaction however it was not taken as a joke.  Cheering, not laughing.  It made me feel sick to my stomach.

I wonder how many members of the audience got their Obamaphone?  It would seem that an entitlement mentality fuels a ‘messiah’ viewpoint even though most supporters of Barack Obama wouldn’t come right out and say that.

Look no matter how you view Barack Obama I would hope there can be bipartisan agreement that President Barack Obama is not our “lord and savior.”

  1. But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, 4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people!

  2. If that’s all it takes to make you feel sick to your stomach, then you must be a pretty reactionary individual. He is clearly referring to Obama as “our Lord and Saviour” because he is comparing his belief that Obama can be as influential to the American people over the next generation as Jesus was to his generation. No matter your political ties, you have to agree that to look any deeper into this is straying from Foxx’s original point.
I don’t think a clued in individual would actually believe that Jamie Foxx feels that Barack Obama will literally be performing miracles that defy the laws of physics, chemistry and biology.

  3. There is only ONE GOD, one LORD and Savior thus being JESUS CHRIST. Obama is a great entertainer and if he was God. Well!
Remember folks Obama is half white which is not at all a prejudice remark. Color is irrelevant in The body of Christ and within
God’s eyes though by world standards it is most proven it is not.
There has been and always will be some form of prejudice and hatred in this world until Christ returns no matter what color we may be or may not.
Jealousy is prejudice and prejudice is jealousy which both evoke anger, hatred, and hostility no matter what background, race, color, or creed we may have came out of. what ultimately matters which will we belong when it is all said and done.
I choose Jesus and His Church, The Body of Christ where LOVE always prevails at the very end.

  4. Murl Green I support your comment. I also think back to when the Beatles said they were more popular than Jesus Christ. That didn’t go over well either. 99% of these actors/entertainers think too much of themselves anyway, it is a shame they get so much press.
